How Do You Handle the Prompt “Are you sure that this transaction doesn’t require a MEMO to be successful?” when You are Trying to Send XRP or XLM to a Trezor or Ledger wallet?

Problem scenario
You are trying to send Ripple coins to a Trezor wallet. You get a prompt like "Are you sure that this transaction doesn’t require a MEMO to be successful?" or "This transaction has no destination tag, are you sure it is not required to be successful?

Do you need to include a memo or "destination tag" when the Ripple coins or Stellar Lumens are going to a Trezor wallet or Ledger wallet?

Answer
No.

Destination tags are not required for receiving XRP tokens in Trezor Suite.

For the Ledger wallet, the answer is also "no."

When you are sending XRP/XLM from an exchange to your address obtained in Ledger Live, you are not required to put a specific tag. Since the address is controlled by you, the funds in Ledger Live will appear on your address automatically.

Be careful because if you were not using a Trezor wallet or Ledger wallet, you could lose your funds (e.g., on an exchange) if you do not provide a destination tag (numeric) with XRP or a memo (an alphanumeric string) with XLM.

Destination tag/Memo is an additional address feature necessary for identifying your recipient beyond the XRP/XLM wallet address on a centralized exchange or wallet.
