Do you deadlift? The problem with the roman chair is that people who use it probably do not deadlift (because of time). If your workout routine is taking too long, you may want to not use the roman chair. We think you should deadlift instead of using the roman chair. Deadlifts involve picking weight up from the floor. The weight is dead with each repetition (as the floor completely supports it before the pull/lift). You may want to read Starting Strength to learn how to deadlift.
Tip: Let the weight go all the way to the floor quickly after each repetition; if you do not, you could injure yourself on the way down.
